International Conference on “Russia’s war: How will it shape the region’s future?” will be conducted on 1st December 2022

Chatham House will conduct an international conference on the theme “Russia’s war: How will it shape the region’s future?” in which it will assess the implications of the Russia-Ukraine war on the region’s future. The conference will be held both in-house and online on 1st December 2022. The conference will also address Ukraine’s reconstruction. It will be attended by over 35 expert speakers, including researchers and policy analysts from diverse academic and expertise backgrounds. Some of the prominent speakers will include Zaur Shiriyev – an analyst at International Crisis Group, and Valeriu Pasha – the program manager of WatchDog.MD, and Victoria Rosa – the representative of the Foreign Policy Association of Moldova.

Israel’s Head of State, President Herzog, Will Conduct a First-Ever State Visit to Bahrain on 4th December 2022

During his tour of the Gulf that will start on 4th December 2022, the Israeli President will be the first Israeli head of State who will visit Bahrain. The president of Israel will be visiting on the invitation by King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa. The two states already normalised diplomatic ties almost two years ago. The visit is anticipated to be fruitful in negotiating and finalising the free trade agreement between Israel and Bahrain, along with strengthening bilateral relations. Israeli president will also meet with the business leaders and the Jewish community in Bahrain. He will also meet the Bahrain Economic Development Board during his visit.

The 12th European Data Protection & Privacy Conference Will be Held on 1st December, 2022

The first post-COVID annual European Data Protection & Privacy Conference will be held in Brussels on 1st December 2022. The conference will consist of interactive panel discussions on the themes of the EU’s data privacy and data sovereignty ambitions. The conference will also discuss Artificial Intelligence and the new avenues of data privacy issues that it creates. The keynote speakers of the conference will include Didier Reynders of the European Commission of Justice and Grant Harris – the representative from the US Department of Commerce. The key themes of the conference will include tech regulation, AI governance, trusted data flows and data privacy regarding future technologies.

American Aerospace & Defence Summit Will be Held from 7th to 8th December, 2022

The experts from the US defence and aerospace sector will gather on 7th December for a two-day summit to explore the strategies to innovate the American aerospace and defence industry. The key themes of the summit will include maximising supplier relationships and the mitigation of associated risks; manufacturing advanced technological solutions through complex manufacturing environments; building qualitatively reliable, affordable and sustainable systems; and enhancing the operational capabilities of the systems through cutting-edge engineering and new IT integrations. The featured speakers at the summit will include Peter Lengyel – CEO of Safran USA, and David Bassett – Director of the Defence Contract Management Agency (DCMA).

India Will Assume the Presidency of G20 on 1st December 2022

India will officially assume the presidency of one of the world’s largest economic forums, i.e., G20, on December 1, 2022. It will remain the president of G20 for a period of one year until November 30, 2022. The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that it would be a moment of pride for him and he will make sure that the next year is result-oriented for G20. Under India’s presidency, the next year’s G20 summit will be held on the 9th and 10th of September, 2023. The Indian government will vow to find pragmatic global solutions for well being of all. The PM also said that under India’s leadership, G20 will be focused on women-led development, and the theme of “data for development” will be integral to the G20’s upcoming year.

World Trade Congress on Gender Will Take Place at the WTO from 5th to 7th December 2022

The three-day World Trade Congress on Gender will be conducted by the World Trade Organization (WTO) from 5th to 7th December 2022. This congress on trade and gender will be the first of its kind. The purpose of this congress will be to gather research work from gender and trade experts. The aim will be to assess how gender equality can promote and enhance the sustainable trade between countries. The congress will be held both in-person and online, consisting of in-person networking events and international programs in support of women. Inclusive trade, women in crisis and trade liberalisation will be the prominent themes among the other themes in the congress.

International Human Rights Day will be Observed on 10th December 2022

Like every year, World’s Human Rights Day will be observed on 10 December 2022. The UN theme for this year’s Human Rights Day will be “Dignity, Freedom, and Justice for All”. Human Rights Day will be observed to proclaim that human beings are entitled to inalienable rights irrespective of their race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. The day will also celebrate the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This day will emphasise the values of equality and non-discrimination, which are also at the heart of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

The 17th Meeting of the Committee for Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict will be held from 15th to 16th December 2022

Under the auspices United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the 17th Meeting of the Committee for Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict will be held for two days, i.e., December 15 and December 16, 2022. The committee will conduct online proceedings from Paris, France. It will be attended by twelve States Parties to the Second Protocol to The Hague Convention of 1954 for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict. The committee will also include a thematic program on “Heritage for Peace”. The committee will also assess various other matters of compliance and monitoring. The committee will also be expected to discuss the protection of cultural heritage in the course of ongoing armed conflict in Ukraine, provided that it has conducted emergency meetings on the matter in the previous months.

Green Hydrogen Summit will be Conducted from 5th to 7th December 2022

Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) in Muscat will hold a three-day Green Hydrogen Summit starting on 5th December 2022. The summit will address all aspects of the hydrogen value chain, encompassing production, transportation, and storage challenges. The keynote speaker at the summit will be Salim Al-Aufi, the Minister of Energy and Minerals of Oman. The summit will address issues revolving around a number of topics, including Carbon Capture, Carbon Pricing & Carbon Credits etc. Over 300 policy experts will be a part of the summit. The focus of the summit will be the Hydrogen Industry and the associated policy, commercial and technological challenges that it faces. The summit will be an anchor for stakeholders from across the world to contribute their inputs on the future of the Hydrogen industry.

UN-Water Summit on Groundwater 2022 Will be Held on the 7th and 8th of December, 2022

UN-Water Task Force, UNESCO and the International Groundwater Resources Assessment Centre (IGRAC) will coordinate a two-day UN-Water Summit on Groundwater on December 7 and 8, 2022. The summit will revolve around the theme of “Groundwater: making the invisible visible”. The Summit will be held in UNESCO Headquarters in hybrid mode. The aim of the summit will be to urge the stakeholders to move towards responsible and sustainable use of groundwater because it is a vital natural resource. UN World Water Development Report 2022 and the SDG 6 Global Acceleration Framework will be the key frameworks in addressing the urgency to bring attention towards groundwater conservation.
