IIAS-SEAPP Doha Conference on Developmental States and Professionalization of Public Administration and Public Policy will Commence from 6 February to 9 February 2023

The International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS) and Doha Institute for Graduate Studies’ School of Economics, Administration and Public Policy (SEAPP) will co-organize the IIAS-SEAPP Doha Conference on Developmental States and Professionalization of Public Administration and Public Policy in Doha, Qatar. The conference will be held under the theme of “Developmental States and Professionalization of Public Administration and Public Policy” and will aim to create an opportunity for sharing knowledge and exchange of experiences to foster governments’ actions in dealing with complex policy issues. Mainly the conference will address how public administration and policies can be professionalised in order to foster holistic international development.

Nigerian General Elections will be held on 25 February 2023

Nigerian general elections will be held on 25 January 2023, with 18 contenders contending for the leadership. Among the 18 contenders, Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari will be most likely to be replaced by three major contending candidates, including Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar and Bola Tinubu. The elections will have great consequences for Nigeria, provided that these three frontrunners and leading contenders are accused of major charges, including money laundering and global tax avoidance. The new leader will be expected to deal with the security and economic challenges that Nigeria is already exhausted with. According to the current president, the elections will be transparent and credible, with new technology that will be implemented to improve voter accreditation.

International Conference on Effective Nuclear and Radiation Regulatory Systems will be held from 13 February to 16 February 2023

On the theme of “Preparing for the Future in a Rapidly Changing Environment”, the 2023 International Conference on Effective Nuclear and Radiation Regulatory Systems will be held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, from 13 February to 16 February 2023. The stimulus behind the conference will be to signify the importance of the development of young professionals in nuclear and radiation regulatory systems. The conference will also emphasise the capacity building of the professionals for sustainability and competence in the workforce. The conference will be a cornerstone for the peaceful use of nuclear technology and other radioactive materials.

The 16th International Conference on Network Security & Applications (CNSA 2023) will be held on 18 and 19 February 2023

The two-days CNSA 2023 will be hosted in Dubai on 18 and 19 February 2023. The conference will focus on security and its technical and practical aspects. The conference will be attended by researchers and practitioners from all over the world in order to focus on the modern security threats and measures needed to counter these threats through new collaborations and partnerships. The prominent themes in the conference will include blockchain technology and cybersecurity, web 2.0 security and cyber-physical systems (CPS) security. Almost one hundred participants will be attending the conference to contribute their insights on advanced security areas and their applications.

A Public Event on Global Trade Policy Challenges: Preparing for the Next Decade will be Conducted on 1 February 2023

The European Institute is hosting an in-person and online public event on the theme of “Preparing for the Next Decade” on 1 February 2023. The event will take place in Hong Kong Theatre, Clement House, London School of Economics. The event will take place against the backdrop of increasing economic turmoil and instability all across the world. The event will be chaired by Dr Robert Basedow, and the keynote speakers at the event will be Iana Dreyer, Director in DG Trade of the European Commission, Ignacio Gracia; Crawford Falconer, former Minister for Trade of South Korea, Han-Koo Yeo and Geoffrey Yu.

The Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development will Host the 10th Global Forum on Responsible Business Conduct on 15 February 2023

The 10th Global Forum on Responsible Business Conduct will be hosted at the OECD Conference Centre in Paris on 15 February 2023. The conference will be conducted in hybrid mode with in-person as well as virtual participation. The OECD started the GFRBC in 2013 in order to promote international dialogue on responsible business conduct. The agenda of the conference will also be to promote worldwide awareness of global implementation mechanisms related to responsible business conduct and engage high-level economic thinkers. The event will be chaired by Kieran Jones, who is the Forum Network Community Manager and Forum Programme Officer at OECD.

Social Issues

61st Session of the Commission for Social Development will Take Place from 6 February to 15 February 2023

The United Nations Headquarters in New York will host the 61st Session of the United Nations Commission for Social Development (CSocD61) from 6 to 15 February 2023. The main theme of the conference will be to deliberate on creating full and productive employment and decent working opportunities in order to overcome social inequalities and mainly to accelerate the post-Covid 19 recoveries. The conference will be chaired by H.E. Alya Ahmed Saif Al-Thani of Qatar. The sub-themes of deliberations will centre around the transition from informal to formal jobs, the gender pay gap, gender equality in the workplace, and education and training.

World Day of Social Justice will be observed on 20 February 2023

The World Day of Social Justice will be observed worldwide on 20 February 2023. This day was proclaimed in 2007 for the first time by the sixty-second session of the United Nations General Assembly. The purpose of the observance of this day will be to promote social development and social justice through harmony, equality, and equity and uphold the fundamental values of all societies in order to achieve an inclusive society at national, regional and international levels. This day will also create awareness about the world’s population that is deprived of very basic social facilities, including homes, jobs, education and more.

The 7th International Conference on Climate Change 2023 will take place from the 9 to 10 February 2023

With the purpose of providing a platform for sharing the latest research findings, knowledge and visions through interactive sessions, the International Conference on Climate Change 2023 will take place from 9 to 10 February 202 in Taj Samudra, Colombo, Sri Lanka. The event will be conducted in a hybrid format. The idea behind the proceedings of the conference will be to visualise climate-related matters in a regional and global context and to acknowledge the significance of quality research on climate change. The conference will also provide the participants with networking opportunities and exciting exercises.

The 5th Japan Energy Summit and Exhibition will Commence on 28 February 2023

Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will host the 5th Japan Energy Summit and Exhibition starting on 28 February 2023. The summit will be attended by Japanese as well as an International participant. It will be conducted in The Westin, Tokyo. Almost 150 companies with over 2000 participants from estimated 40 countries will be represented at the summit, where over one hundred keynote speakers will deliver their insights. The conference discussions will be based on a wide range of topics, including the critical role of LNG and gas in providing energy security, the shift to hydrogen & ammonia and the application of low-carbon solutions.
